RE: Fleetwood Providence

I may be mistaken, but assuming you have a diesel Bounder, its about the same coach you already have? Same TPO roof, same exposed cabinet hinges, same vinyl wrapped cabinet fronts, etc. You get tile and fancier window trim, etc. Probably bigger engine. I have an 05 Expedition CAT C-7, Allison 3000. I don't think I would change to a Providence. Allegro Phaeton or bus, perhaps.
The Bounder we have is a gasser, 35E.

RE: Alas, poor Big Foot! I knew him, Horatio.

When I first heard about this and saw the pictures, I thought it was my cousin from Arkansas. After looking closer, I knew it wasn't him because BF had too many teeth. I hope Cuz doesn't read this. If he does, he may come looking for me and gum me to death.

Fleetwood Providence

Anyone care to offer some feed back on the Fleetwood Providence? DW and I have been looking at them but can't really make up our minds.Presently we have a 2006 Fleetwood Bounder and it is paid for. Just wonder if it would be worth trading up. I do have to laugh at the tales of how the dealers are hurting. I havent talked with one yet that would budge much on price, even the famed, " Lazy Days."

RE: Landing Gear Problem

I am curious, why are these parts refered to as,"Landing Gear?" Every time I hear someone refer to it as landing gear, I visualize a big OL' 747 comming in for a landing.

RE: Driving and RV

I did the same thing, white nuckles and some other white and wet places. What scared me the most was when I decided to pull in for gas. As I did, I looked back in the mirrow and the gas tanks were getting closer and closer. I stopped, backed up and got a line on them and pulled in ok. I still make d%$m sure what I am doing while pulling in for fuel.

RE: Driving and RV

I think the inaugural drive of a big RV is something that doesn't get as much air time here as it deserves. Our first trip from Tampa to Boston had the same affect on us. Damn some people can do it without thinking twice but I'm one who had to struggle. A year later and two trips to the body shop and I'm starting to feel more confident. Mmmm guess it's time I became a real RV'er and started towing the Cherokee.
You mean you'r gonna tow an Indian behing the MH? You better be sure he ain't on the war path.

RE: Laptop won't shut down

I had the same problem....my laptop would not shut down. I unplugged it, hit buttons...then carried it into my computer store. All they did was turn it over and unplug the battery...it shut right down and rebooted. I felt so stupid..my first laptop, never thought it had a battery keeping power to it.
My 13 yr old GS showed me how to do this. He loves to make Papa look dummmmmm. One of these days, pow right in the kisser. :B

RE: slideout problems

Did you check the seals (sweeps)? Ours did this on a 2006 Bounder, found that the sweeps were folded back and were not sweeping the trash and water off as the slides were being closed.

RE: Had a great time at Hunting Island! *pics*

DW and I were there about a year ago. I believe we were in spot 124. Hunting Island is a very nice park and we plan on going again. We just sold old home, downsized to smaller home, just about settled into smaller home, just about ready to hit the road again.See you 'round

RE: gas is cheap

The same thing happened on our 2006 Bounder. The quickee steps would not operate. They had been worked on twice before, both times when the unit was still under Manufactury warranty. The second time, they replaced the motor. The last time, about two weeks ago, it went out again. I took it to CW for repairs. The mechanic said that it was not the motor but the housing was not lined up correctly. He said he could repair it but it would not hold for long. They contacted my Insurance co who refused to pay for the repairs. CW argued with them,on my behalf and back and forth, for about a hour before the ins co reluctantly aggred to replace the whole step with a completly new one.I had one of the Air Conditioners repaired at the same time. The Ins covered all but the $50 deductable. This is one time I have to disagree with people who say the INS is worthless.( A completly new step was only $40 more than the repair would have been. CW agreed to eat the extra $40 labor.)

RE: Battery

I did plug it into 15 AMP from house. I have a long heavy wire that runs about 30 feet then I have to use a 30 amp pig tail to another pig tail which plugs into the 50 amp service cord. As long as I dont use any thing else it does ok. The batteries are up to par now. I plan on another 4 hours.

RE: Washed and Waxed the MoHo

I for one am impressed with the word "both" in relation to waxing the motorhome. "I" usually get it done in 8 hours.
Hey, you beat me to it. I was wondering about that word. When it comes to washing and waxing, it is "I" AND, not five hours or even eight, For me it's more like two days. Bad part of this conversation is, It's time to do it again. I back my pick up to the RV and it gives me just about the right reach while standing on the side of the truck bed. Have to move the truck a few times but easier than a ladder and juggling cleaner, wax and rags.

RE: Not a rant, just curious

You should have been at Crooked Creek CG on Lake Keowee in SC. over the fourth. (not a gripe here either) It was wall to wall, people were parked everywhere, golf carts, children and Adults all over and everyone was having lots and lots of fun. After sunset It was topped off with about an hour of fire works.

RE: Battery

Thanks for your answers.I looked this morning and the AUX batteries were down to 10.22V. I wanted to put some gas in the MH so started it and drove about 8 miless to the nearest service station and back. I then checked it again. Both the main and aux were at 13.65V. I shut the engine off and started the Generator. (the gen set was harder to start this time). I let the gen set run with both air conditioners on for about 35 minutes. I shut the gen off and could see the AUX dropping. Right now, about two hours later, the main is at 12.85V and the aux is at 11'25V. I added distilled water this morn. They were low. The main battery is self maintained, so dont know about it. I am going to hook back up to shore power,15 amp. I need 50 amp to run everything but am only going to have enough to charge the batteries.I'll keep you informed. Also plan to check the solar pannel to make sure it is clean.

Battery

I have three batteries in my class A. Two of them are located under the steps. If I am right, these two are the house batteries. But, of the three, Which battery is the aux battery? Is it the battery that is located under the hood, which is charged with the Alternator and is for starting the Engine? The instrument pannel on the dash has them listed as MAIN and the lower AUX.
